World War I officially ended on November 11, 1918. The eleventh day of the eleventh month is now honored as a special time for reflection. On this date in 1921, an unidentified soldier who had been killed in France was buried in what became one of the most sacred graves in the United States: The Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery.
