Wallfahrtskirche zum Gegeißelten Heiland auf der Wies), is a late Baroque, or Rococo, church built according to plans by German architect Dominikus Zimmerman. In English, Wieskirche is often called
Church in the Meadow.
Dominikus Zimmerman worked with his brother, Johann Baptist, who was a fresco master, to create the lavish ornamentation. The Wieskirche was completed in 1754. It was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983.
